Moe's Cantina Wrigleyville

Smaller in size compared to Moe's Cantina in River North, Moe's Wrigleyville hosts a "chiller" atmosphere than its downtown twin. Located in the heart of Wrigleyville, the Cubs capital and popular pub crawl destination, Moe's offers tasty Mexican cuisine and any cocktail you can imagine. With brick walls and wooden details, the interior creates a mysterious yet warm atmosphere, perfect for a night out with your girls or a hot date. Its location also makes it a great spot for a night out during the week. If you're looking for a place with a large cocktail selection, good music and have a craving for mexican food, this is the place to be.

Best food on the menu: Skirt Steak Quesadillas
Best drink on the menu: Strawberry Margarita

P.S. Make sure your drinks are made by bartender Ivana P!

After Dark at The Art Institute of Chicago

Last Friday, my friends and I decided to change up our Friday night game and attended the After Dark at The Art Institute of Chicago event. This was my first time attending such an event and I fell in love with the concept.

The event was held in the Modern Wing of the Art Institute. The exhibition of choice for this After Dark event was  The City Lost and Found: New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, 1960 - 1980. Complementary appetizers were available, along with a cash bar. There was live entertainment, with dancers dressed as hippies from the 60s and 70s, and a great atmosphere in the air.

The exhibition portrayed the changes of the three major American cities through the years of 1960 to 1980. A time of major political and social changes, and development of modern america was all captured in black and white photographs, architectural sketches, and video excerpts. It was interesting to see how the cities changed from then to now. Chicago especially caught my eye. Just being the beautiful city it is, it was interesting to see how times have changed, and how the unique architecture of Chicago was envisioned and then carried out to what it is today. I might be biased, but the Chicago part of the exhibition was my favorite.

I adore the Art Institute and I can spend hours wandering through its rooms, enjoying every bit of art they offer. Good photography, food, drinks and friends proved to be a great combo for a fantastic Friday night, and we plan to attend the next After Dark event that will be organized, hopefully in the near future.

Hot Chocolate Run 11.08.

I must admit, I am NOT a runner. I am NOT a sporty person at all. So when I told my mom I will be running a 5K, she raised her eyebrows, started laughing out loud, and said "YOU?! Please." I don't blame her.

I will be honest with you and admit that the only reason I did it was for the free hot chocolate goodie basket you get when you complete the race. It was amazing. But I will say that I surprised myself and ran a mile and a half. It may be nothing to you, but it's a milestone for me!

The race was nicely organized. The route started on Columbus Dr, right by the The Art Institute, went through Lower Wacker Drive, continued down Clark Street and W. Van Buren St leading us to the finish line through Michigan Avenue, across Roosevel Rd and ending on Columbus Dr right by Grant Park. There were hot chocolate cartoon character blow ups set up at the start. The chocolate goodie basket was filled with chocolicious goodies! It contained a nice cup of hot chocolate, hot chocolate dip, a banana, rice crispy treat, mini pretzels, and a waffle cookie. I indulged without any shame. The fact that I ran for 45 mins just prior to the chocolate fest meant nothing to me. It was all about the chocolate.

Seeing Chicago so peaceful and the streets so empty was a really interesting experience. Also, just running a 5k for the first time was an interesting experience. I'm definitely doing it again next year!
